OUR STORY
We are a group of driven students based in Howard County, Maryland who share a vision: cultivating a love for STEM among our community. We created our platform STEM4Impact so students could have an opportunity to collaborate, compete and explore their interest in a wide variety of STEM fields, while growing a passion for making a difference in our society.

The Call to Action
Whether you're an aspiring scientist, an enthusiastic problem-solver, or a visionary entrepreneur, our platform offers the perfect opportunity to showcase your talents and make a real impact. The below prompts are topics you can choose to address in your pitch. Please remember that you are expected to address one of the specified prompts either as an individual or in a team of 2-3.
Mental Health Access Initative
Address the critical lack of mental health services in third-world countries by proposing scalable and culturally appropriate solutions for mental health awareness, counseling, and treatment.
Infectious Disease Prevention
Propose a comprehensive strategy to combat infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, or HIV/AIDS in resource-constrained settings, integrating prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Women’s Health Empowerment
Create initiatives to improve women's access to reproductive healthcare, menstrual hygiene products, family planning services, and gender-sensitive healthcare facilities.
APPLY
- Must be between the grades of 8-12
- All work submitted must be YOUR work.
- Any plagiarism detected will lead to disqualification
- You can compete individually or with a 2-3 person team
- All videos submitted by August 1
RULES
Create a short video (maximum 3 minutes) that addresses one of the specified prompts. Must include the following:
- Your start-up concept;
- A brief overview of your business plan.
- How your idea will leave a lasting impact.

ABOUT
Teams and individuals will select one of the three prompts provided and design a potential startup idea that will address the problem (eg.infectious disease prevention). Winners are selected based on the strength and articulation of their presentation as well as overall feasibility. The Top 3 Pitches will be announced by late August. Winners will receive monetary prizes and all participants will receive certificates of recognition.
